LASH FUN FACTS

HERE ARE THREE FACTS ABOUT LASHES

Have you ever been a little curious about lashes and lash extensions? Well, lashes are such an interesting topic, there's a lot of things to know. We've narrowed it down to a few fun facts that we believe are very interesting & now we have come here to spill the tea!

1. Eyelash transplants?! Anyone?!?

Picture it... you want a little extra umph on your lash line. What should you do? Eureka! Just head on down to your local surgeon to get a few extra hairs implanted in your eyelids! No Big deal right? Well, it may sound crazy, but in 1882 it was recorded that the Parisians created a method to make lashes look longer and more luxurious! Thank goodness we have come a long way since then am I right?

2. Breaking news : Lashes Have a Self Cleaning Mode

Lashes as they grow out of our eyelids are only connected to two secretory glands (small openings that release hormones ). Those two glands are the Ziess gland & Glands of Moll which is responsible for releasing lubricant that has antimicrobial properties. With that being said, its really cool to know that lashes have a system to keep the eye free from bacteria but if you wear lash extensions... YES! You still need to wash your lashes... everyday... twice a day... no "if", "ands", or "buts" about it!

3. How long is too long?!

On average human eyelashes grow no more than 12mm or just under half an inch. Well, would you believe me if I told you that a woman by the name of You Jianxia from Shanghai, China currently holds the worlds record for longest eyelashes in the world in the Guinness World Records since 2016? But wait for it, she grew her lashes to 12.4 cm which also translates to 4.88 inches. Just for reference here are a few every day items that are 5 inches; a soda can, your cell phone, and a teaspoon. As of 2021 Jianxia's lashes measure to a whopping 20.5 cm or 8 inches! Just imagine walking around with lashes that long! That would definitely be "eye catching" to say the least... pun intended lol!

In the world of lashes and beauty there is so much to know, let us know if you learned something new. Well, until next time!
